You Need To Know

Students enrolled in the S'cool Spirit Band Program are taught the basics of playing a band instrument in a full band setting. Classes are designed to be fun and encouraging and their is no prior experience necessary. The instruments taught are flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, alto sax, and percussion.

Group lessons are offered directly after the school day ends and take place at your school. Two semesters of band classes Are taught and classes meet once a week for a 45 minute lesson. Each semester culminates with a concert for parents.

 

Instruments

The instruments taught are flute (beginning band limited to ten), clarinet, trumpet, alto saxophone, bells* (beginning band only) and snare (5th graders only).

*4th graders that register for bells will play bells, snare and percussion in intermediate band after completing their first year of band.

 

Cost

The cost of each semester is $360 and students will need to rent their instrument. We will provide parents with a list of local music stores in order to obtain their instrument. Performances

Band students perform two concerts each year. Second year intermediate students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of events including playing in the Los Gatos Christmas Parade, performing in our annual band competition, and playing the national anthem at a San Jose Giants basball game.

 


Practice is the
key to success.

We suggest practicing
20-30 minutes a day,
four to five days a week
in order to see consistent progress.
